A few weeks ago in science we completed an experiment relating to our topic which  is microorganisms/ microbes. It was an experiment to prove that yeast is a living thing which we already knew. We tested the three characteristics of Mrs Gren  commonly known as Movement  Reproduce  Sensitive      Growth  Respire and  Nutrition. The three that were chosen were Respire , Excrete and Nutrition. This was one of the three  experiments which were taking place on that day. We attached a balloon  to 2 test tubes ( one each) and filled sugar and  yeast in one and just yeast  in the other. The tube filled with sugar and yeast created carbon dioxide and filled the balloon . We proved the gas was Carbon dioxide by trapping the gas in a tube and put a lit match in ,which quickly blew out showing it was. At the end of the day we got to take home a bread roll which the other experiment involved , the growth of yeast. I had so much fun and the bread was tasty too! .L.Mcnab.
